Prepare for the Scale

When you weigh yourself tomorrow, you’re going to mark the amount you lost on your weight-loss graph. You’ll continue to graph your change in weight at the end of each week, Now, do the following:

Put a sticky note on here so that you can find it easily in the future.

Note the dot at 0. Tomorrow morning, you’ll calculate the difference in your weight since last week and mark it on the graph above “Week 1.” Then you’ll draw a line from the original dot to the new dot. Continue to weigh yourself every day to stay in touch with your progress but record your change in weight only once a week.

Today, get yourself ready psychologically. Remember, you should aim for a ½- to 2-pound weight loss most weeks. Anything in that range is considered normal and is an achievement that should make you proud. Read Response Card #19 (“Celebrate!”).
